Hourly hydrologic modeling in the upper basin of the Fuerte River, Sinaloa, Mexico

Introduction: Mexico uses hydrological models to determine floods, evaluate land use change scenarios, climate and define federal zones, among other applications. However, the are rarely calibrated beforehand, which increases uncertainty in design of structures hydraulic standards. Objective: To build a model for watershed Fuerte River, Mexico, extreme rainfall events occurred 2009, 2011, 2015, 2016 2017. Methodology: Five were considered this study. The hydrologic was using HEC-HMS program, at Tubares hydrometric station. runoff curve number methodology Clark unit hydrograph used. Results: results collected four five positive; Nash-Sutcliffe efficiency (NSE) ranged between 0.22 0.52. temporal behavior river, times when it moved away from flow value, preserved variation trend. Limitations study: study reaches station, Chihuahua, without including downstream dams Sinaloa. Originality: There few studies that generate and, therefore, reliable hourly model. Conclusions: had an acceptable performance predicted terms NSE root mean square error (RMSE).
